The Opportunity Gateway of the Athlete Economy

One gateway.
Three crossings.

Kivuko · The Crossing is a sport-careers marketplace and a skills-building engine. It connects people to meaningful work in sport, media, and entertainment, and to the learning that makes them more employable, across Africa and the Gulf.

What Kivuko Is

Where Talent Crosses Into Opportunity, and Rises

Kivuko is the consumer-facing expression of the Interaction layer of Podium Pursuit, the operating platform for the Athlete Economy. Where Podium Pursuit verifies, values, and indexes talent, Kivuko is where that talent crosses into careers, deals, capital, and credentials. It is not only an athlete gateway. It serves three crossings on one verified surface.

Kivuko /kiˈvuːko/ noun · Swahili Bantu, Kiswahili
1.

A crossing place; a ford or point of passage. The place where one passes from one side to the other.

2.

The act or moment of crossing over; a transition from one state, place, or stage of life to the next.

3.

figurative. The gateway through which talent in sport crosses into careers, commercial opportunity, and credentials, and rises.

Origin

From the verb kuvuka, to cross over, from a Proto-Bantu root meaning to rise. In the source language, the crossing and the rising are the same word.

About

Where Kivuko Fits in the Athlete Economy

Kivuko is one venture inside a larger design. It is helpful to know who built the ground beneath it, and how the pieces hold together.

The Athlete Economy

The recognition that athletes are not assets to be valued and traded, but architects of value in their own right. Their names, nations, journeys, and fan communities all carry economic potential. The thesis that runs through everything: architected, not discovered.

ProTouch™ Sports

A South African based sports intelligence and athlete economy development company, founded to build the infrastructure that powers African sport from grassroots to global podium. ProTouch operates at the intersection of sport, technology, investment, and human capital development, and architected the Athlete Economy.

Podium Pursuit

The operating system of the Athlete Economy, powered by the BuntuAI Intelligence Engine. It integrates identity systems, intelligence frameworks, valuation models, participation environments, and capital pathways into a single architecture, and holds the spine: the five layers that make athletes identifiable, measurable, valued, connected, and fundable.

The Community

The wider ecosystem of founders, institutions, investors, federations, and athletes builds the application layer on top: the products, ventures, and partnerships that bring each layer to life. Kivuko is one of them, sitting in the Interaction layer.

ProTouch architected the spine. Podium Pursuit holds it. The community builds the economy around it.

Where It Fits

Built on Five Layers. Irreplicable.

A rival can build a feed and a directory in a quarter. It cannot build the four layers beneath it. Kivuko draws verified Identity, BuntuAI Intelligence, and Index valuation from the layers around it, and returns value through Investment.

IdentityVerified profiles. Who the talent is.

Africa and the Gulf, One Corridor

Built Where the Economy Flows, Not Where the Map Stops

Kivuko spans more than 6,000 profiles across 62 nations: 54 African, the 6 GCC states, and Jordan and Lebanon. Capital, federations, and competition pathways increasingly run across Africa and the Gulf as a single corridor, and the workforce moves through it the same way the athletes do.

A continent attracting global events. In 2026 Dakar hosts the Summer Youth Olympic Games, the first Olympics on African soil, following AFCON and Morocco’s 2030 FIFA World Cup co-hosting role.

A Region Hosting, and Building Its Own Events IP

The Gulf already hosts the world’s marquee sport, from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar to Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi and the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia. It is now developing its own Events IP, from LIV Golf to new leagues and formats originated in the region, generating sustained, year-round demand for a skilled sport, media, and entertainment workforce.

Each crossing is a distinct passage into the same gateway, served by the same marketplace and the same skills engine. Sport is an industry, not only a stage, so a thriving Athlete Economy needs the whole community around the athlete to cross in.

Crossing One

The Athlete Crossing

Active and retired athletes crossing into brand deals, ambassador roles, appearances, capital, and the next chapter of a life in sport, priced on the Athlete Value Index, on terms the athlete sets.

Questions and Answers

Frequently asked
questions.

Everything you need to know about Kivuko, registering for the Workforce Crossing, how the Match Readiness Score works, and how learning lifts your profile.

About Kivuko

Kivuko is the opportunity gateway of the Athlete Economy: a sport-careers marketplace and a skills-building engine. It connects people to meaningful work in sport, media, and entertainment, and to the learning that makes them more employable, across Africa and the Gulf. Kivuko is not only for athletes. It serves three crossings on one verified surface: athletes, the wider sport workforce, and learners.
Kivuko is Swahili for a crossing place, the ford or point where one passes from one side to the other. It comes from the verb kuvuka, to cross over, which descends from a Proto-Bantu root meaning to rise. The crossing and the rising are the same word.
Podium Pursuit is the operating platform for the Athlete Economy, built on five layers: Identity, Intelligence, Index, Interaction, and Investment. Kivuko sits in the Interaction layer. BuntuAI is the intelligence engine that powers the matching. In short: ProTouch architected the spine, Podium Pursuit holds it, and the community builds the economy around it.
Kivuko spans 62 nations: 54 African, the 6 GCC states, and Jordan and Lebanon. Africa and the Gulf are treated as one corridor, because capital, federations, competition, and the workforce increasingly move across both regions as a single system.

Registering for the Workforce Crossing

The Workforce Crossing is open to freelancers and independent contractors, SMEs and service businesses, young people entering the business of sport, and career-changers from adjacent industries. You must be 18 or over to be listed.
Registering and building a verified profile is the first step in joining the database. Pricing details for premium listings and placements will be confirmed as the platform launches. Register your interest now to be among the first listed.
The registration form is adaptive. When you select your registrant type at the start, it shows only the sections relevant to you, so a freelancer, an SME, a young entrant, and a career-changer each answer a tailored set of questions. This keeps registration quick while still building a complete, structured profile.
Your answers build a verified profile and generate a Match Readiness Score. Your profile is then listed and ranked against live roles in sport, media, and entertainment. Where your profile falls short of a role you want, the Learning Crossing recommends the courses that close the gap.
Your details are submitted to the Kivuko workforce database and used to build your profile and match you to opportunities. Sensitive fields, such as your date of birth and rate, are held privately and used for verification and matching, not displayed publicly. You consent to verification and listing when you submit.

The Match Readiness Score

It is a transparent score from 0 to 100 that measures how job-ready your profile is against a target role. It is built from five weighted factors: skills (35%), experience (25%), availability fit (20%), verified learning (15%), and verification and evidence (5%).
Prime (80 to 100) is a strong, verified, job-ready match. Ready (65 to 79) is a solid match with minor gaps. Emerging (45 to 64) is promising, with a clear learning path to close the gap. Developing (0 to 44) is early, and prioritised for learning and entry pathways. Organisations see your band, not your raw number.
The BuntuAI athlete indices (AVI, SVI, CAI) measure an athlete’s market value. The Match Readiness Score measures a workforce candidate’s job-readiness against a role. They answer different questions, so the workforce score is deliberately kept simple and explainable, so you can always see what would raise it.

Learning and Growth

Verified learning is the 15% learning factor in your score. When your profile falls short of a role, Kivuko recommends specific courses mapped to the same role taxonomy. Complete them, the credential is verified, your learning factor rises, your score rises, and you surface higher against roles. Learning is never a dead end.
The Les Roches MSc in Sports Management and Events, delivered in Abu Dhabi, is the flagship qualification of the Learning Crossing. It is the benchmark above the courses and micro-credentials, with scholarship and transition pathways to widen access for African talent, and it nearly caps the learning factor on its own.
Yes. Non-accredited certificates count toward your learning factor, but they are weighted below accredited learning such as federation, CPD, and university credentials. A Kivuko micro-credential adds points instantly, and the Les Roches MSc carries the most weight.
